Since the beginning of
1999, a group of dedicated community leaders have focused their
attention on exploring ways to help the youth of Camden County. They
adopted the COOL name from Communities Offering Opportunities for Life.
The mission of COOL is to
increase positive assets in the youth of Camden County which will
promote individual, family and community success.
As we enter the new
millennium, we can help our youth learn positive social values, morals
and behaviors instead of telling them only what not to do.
Now is the time for
community groups and civic leaders to work together sharing ideas,
information and resources to help develop character, integrity and
positive attributes in our children.
Development assets are
those positive influences that build healthy attitudes and behaviors in
all children and youth.
Using successful
outcome-based prevention approaches COOL incorporates the Search
Institute's 40 Developmental Assets Initiative (Healthy
Communities-Healthy Youth).
